What makes Tecom so successful?
In any manufacturing based company, a
large part of their success is their production process, and we are no
different. Although we focus heavily on customer service, we have taken
the time to fine tune our production process, allowing us to produce
compressors at low cost, and high quality. There are three key areas to
the success of our production process:
Serial Production: Our serial production method is one of the best
around. We are able to produce large quantities of compressors with a
very small work force. This allows us to keep our prices competitive.
Stock: Tecom works on a stock basis. When you place an order, we have
the compressor already waiting for you. This cuts down our delays in
the depot to one or two days max, which ensures that the compressor
reaches the end customer as soon as possible. This has been a key part
of our success over the past few years, and continues to be an
important part of our business.
Quality Testing: The only thing that we see as paramount to our highly
competitive prices is our quality. That's why we do extensive quality
testing on all of our machines. Before shipping, each compressor is run for three hours and
undergoes and extensive series of tests including:
1. Vibration Analysis: We collect data on each compressor at several key points. By looking at the time frequency versus amplitude of the vibrations in the machine we can see if there is any irregular vibrations in the machine which may be indicative of a manufacturing fault. 2. Alignment Control: On our belt drive machines, it is important to make sure that the pulleys are properly aligned. We do this by using a laser tool specifically designed for use on pulley systems. 3. Noise Control: We measure the sound power and sound pressure to make sure they are within acceptable limits. 4. Temperature Control: We measure the temperature at several points throughout the machine using an infra red thermometer. This is to make sure heat is being dissipated properly and that there are no overheating problems. 5. Leakage Test: We use the Beko leakage detection device to make sure there are no leakages in the machine. 6. Visual Checklist: We give our technicians a checklist of visual checks to perform before shipping machines. 7. Flow Measurement: This is the only test that is not performed on every machine. This test is performed on a sample set of machines. It involves checking the flow rate, humidity and pressure of the compressed air at the outlet, as well as the cooling fan's cooling capacity.
